Things You Can Find in the Plan Cache

The Plan Cache is one of SQL Server's fundamental components, and getting to know it will take your troubleshooting and performance tuning skills to the next level. In this session we will demonstrate a few basic and advanced ways we can use the Plan Cache in order to identify and solve query performance problems. Among other topics, we will talk about: * How an Execution Plan is generated * The right ways to use parameters * How to overcome Parameter Sniffing problems * Common performance problems and solutions * What insanely valuable data we can pull out of the Plan Cache And much moreā€¦

Matan Yungman is a Data Platform MVP, a senior consultant and the professional manager at Madeira Data Solutions. He has been working with SQL Server since 2002, and today he spends his time consulting, mentoring, teaching and speaking about SQL Server. Matan also co-hosts SQL Server Radio, a podcast for SQL Server professionals. He is passionate about SQL Server, technology and the SQL Server community.

The DBA Virtual Chapter presentations are recorded. On the Meeting Archive page, you will find  .WMV files that can be viewed on-line. Select the event you are interested in, click the Show More button if it is visible, and the recording and any associated files will be visible.

Regular Meeting Schedule

The DBA Virtual Chapter holds two regular webinars each month. The first one is on the second Wednesday at noon, Mountain time and the second one is on the fourth Wednesday at noon, Eastern time. These 1 - 1¼ hour presentations include slides, demos and a time for questions and answers. The meetings are recorded and archived.
